The first Iranian High Performance Computing Research Center (IHPCRC) has been founded in "Amirkabir University of Technology", and is being supported by "Electrical Engineering Department" and "Computer Engineering and IT Department".

The main objective in establishing this center is to prepare an environment comprising essential tools and facilities for developing scientific ideas of supercomputing. Years of applied scientific and intensive research on all aspects of parallel processing made everybody believe that it is an ideal place to fulfill the need of high performance computing in Iran. Of this, several important an national project successfully were implemented in this center and some new projects are on the table. The scope of work in this center are as follows:

• Give consultancy to any nationwide need in this regard .

• Design and implementation of needy cluster systems .

• Developing parallel software applications .

• Keep an eye on for any new/ advanced solution in the field of parallel processing, such as grid computing/ services .

• Providing parallel solutions for crucial fields such as bio-materials, seismic, biomedical, car and aircraft manufactoring .
